W. Howard Sloane

W. Howard Sloane was an Australian ufologist and member of the Ballarat Astronomical Society in Victoria. In 1965, he organized Australia's first UFO conference on 27 February in Ballarat, a pivotal event in Australian ufology. The conference featured RAAF representatives, including B.G. Roberts from the Department of Air, and Air Marshal Sir George Jones, who served as patron for the newly formed Commonwealth Aerial Phenomena Investigation Organisation (CAPIO). Speakers included Reverend William Gill and Charles Brew, sharing notable UFO encounters. Sloane's efforts helped unite disparate UFO groups and elevate public discourse on aerial phenomena.
