William J. Birnes

William J. Birnes (born November 7, 1944) is an American author, ufologist, and television producer. He served as publisher of UFO Magazine and was the lead investigator on the History Channel series UFO Hunters (2008 onwards). Birnes is a New York Times bestselling co-author of The Day After Roswell with Lt. Col. Philip J. Corso. He has written or co-authored over 40 books spanning ufology, true crime, and paranormal subjects. Birnes has promoted theories regarding extraterrestrial visitation to Earth, secret NASA lunar missions, and alleged NASA image manipulation to conceal evidence of alien activity. His credibility faced scrutiny following the 2009 Morris County, New Jersey UFO sighting hoax featured on UFO Hunters.
