William Spaulding

William H. Spaulding was an American UFO researcher and director of Ground Saucer Watch (GSW), a small Phoenix, Arizona-based group founded in 1957 to scientifically investigate UFO reports. GSW aimed to evaluate cases, educate the media, and pursue legal action for UFO data release. Convinced of a government cover-up, Spaulding accused the CIA of withholding files. In 1975, he received CIA documents including the Robertson Panel report but remained skeptical, prompting another letter alleging concealment. In September 1977, GSW filed a FOIA lawsuit against the CIA for all UFO documents. Spaulding claimed CIA and Air Force cover-ups of UFOs. GSW produced news bulletins and ceased due to financial issues. No birth/death dates known; key role in challenging official UFO secrecy.
