Dana W. White is an American communications executive and former Pentagon spokesperson. Born in the United States, she was the first Black woman to graduate with a degree in Chinese history from the University of Chicago. White served as Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and Chief Pentagon Spokesperson under Secretary James Mattis from April 2017 to December 2018, managing strategic communications, media relations, and public affairs for the Department of Defense. In this role, she confirmed Luis Elizondo's leadership of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) to Politico in 2017, a key disclosure in U.S. government UFO research efforts, prior to her departure from the Pentagon. Previously, she worked as a Professional Staff Member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Taiwan Country Director at the DoD, editorial writer for The Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong, and foreign policy advisor to John McCain's 2008 campaign. She has held executive roles at Hyundai Motor North America and founded her consulting firm. White received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service.
