Ernest G. Gehman was an American professor of German at Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He served as president and sponsor of the college's UFO Investigators Club and was a member of the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP). In late December 1964, Gehman investigated a reported UFO landing near Fishersville, Virginia, by witness Gray Burns. On December 30, he examined the site with a Geiger counter, detecting high radioactivity levels tracing the outline of the alleged craft, which he described as matching the reported size. Homeowners nearby reported electrical anomalies. Gehman contacted Project Blue Book, prompting Air Force investigators Sergeants David Moody and Harold Jones to visit on January 12, 1965, though they found no radiation. He also proposed UFO investigations in the Shenandoah Valley.
