Genrikh Silanov
Genrikh Silanov was a Soviet scientist serving as head of the Voronezh Geophysical Laboratory during the late 1980s. He gained prominence in UAP research through his involvement in the 1989 Voronezh UFO incident, where children reported seeing aliens and a UFO landing in a local park on September 27. Silanov used biolocation—a form of dowsing—to identify a 20-meter diameter circle at the site and trace the aliens' route, aligning with eyewitness accounts. He initially claimed to TASS that two deep-red sandstone-like rocks were unearthly, as mineralogical analysis suggested they were not of Earth origin, though further tests were needed. This report, amid glasnost, spread globally, drawing scientists and media. Later, Silanov retracted, stating the rocks were common hematite and criticizing TASS for exaggerating: 'don't believe all you hear from TASS.'
