Background

On January 6, 1976, Mona Stafford, Louise Smith, and Elaine Thomas were driving home from a restaurant near Lancaster, Kentucky. At approximately 11:15 PM, they observed a bright red object approaching their vehicle on Highway 78. The driver lost control of the car as the object drew near. An enormous metallic disc with a dome and red lights surrounded the automobile. A bluish-white beam penetrated the interior, filling it with fog-like haze. All three occupants suffered intense eye irritation and burning sensations. Their next memory was arriving at a pasture entrance flanked by stone walls. Approximately one hour and twenty minutes of time could not be accounted for. The women later reported painful skin exposure and psychological trauma from the encounter.
