Background

Initial Sighting Retired London policeman Philip Spencer (pseudonym) walked across Ilkley Moor, West Yorkshire, England, at 7:15 a.m. on December 1, 1987, heading to his father-in-law in East Morton. Climbing a hill, he spotted a dark green entity ahead, roughly 4 feet tall with a large head and slender arms. It gestured as if warning him back, but Spencer photographed it before it fled into fog.

Craft Observation and Anomalies Spencer pursued but lost the figure, then saw a white, double-saucer craft ascend from the moor with a loud hum, vanishing skyward. He failed to photograph it. Diverting to a town 30 minutes away, he arrived two hours late per clocks. His compass pointed oppositely, indicating possible interference.

Evidence and Investigation The photo, analyzed by experts including Kodak labs, showed no local wildlife match or manipulation, depicting a humanoid form. Ufologist Peter Hough recommended regressive hypnotherapy by Jim Singleton on March 16, 1988. Under hypnosis, Spencer recalled paralysis, levitation into the craft, calming telepathic voice, medical probes in nose/mouth by green beings, craft tour, and apocalyptic films of disasters—but withheld a second film's content per alien instruction.

Significance This case ranks among UK's top alien encounters due to witness credibility, physical photo evidence, and hypnotic recall of abduction details, amid Ilkley Moor's UFO history near stone circles.
