UFO Cover-Up? Live! Airs on National TV — 'Falcon' and 'Condor' Reveal Area 51
On October 14, 1988, 'UFO Cover-Up? Live!' — a two-hour documentary hosted by Mike Farrell (of MAS*H) — airs throughout North America. The show features the Cash-Landrum incident, Hudson Valley sightings, MJ-12 documents, hypnotic regressions, and interviews with Moore, Shandera, and Friedman. Most controversially, two anonymous informants called 'Falcon' and 'Condor' — later identified as Richard Doty and Robert Collins, both recently retired from the Air Force — claim the U.S. government has had three successive alien 'guests,' that an exchange program exists, and that an alien base operates at 'Area 51' or 'Dreamland.' This is the first time Area 51 is ever mentioned on television. The aliens are described as enjoying Tibetan music and strawberry ice cream — the latter detail becoming the show's most remembered element and effectively undermining its credibility. Bill Moore later admits 'some of the stuff on the show was real, and some was disinformation.'

1. On October 14, 1988, the two-hour documentary 'UFO Cover-Up? Live!' aired across North America. The show, hosted by Mike Farrell, presented various UFO-related topics and featured interviews with researchers. A key segment involved discussion of alleged Holloman Air Force Base landing footage.
The Incident The 'UFO Cover-Up? Live!' documentary featured discussions regarding alleged UFO landing footage from Holloman Air Force Base. Robert Emenegger, who had previously worked on a UFO documentary, stated that his experiences convinced him of the reality of the UFO phenomenon. Paul Shartle, also featured in the documentary, described the alleged Holloman landing footage, claiming it showed three disc-shaped craft, one of which landed.
Shartle described the landed craft as having a sliding door and ramp, from which three human-sized aliens emerged. He stated the aliens had grey complexions, pronounced noses, tight-fitting jumpsuits, and headgear that appeared to be communication devices. According to Shartle, the Holloman base commander and other Air Force officers met the aliens. Shartle and Emenegger claimed that 12 seconds of the documentary included actual footage of the Holloman landing, which they said "slipped through the security net."
