Eupen: Triangular craft sighted by 250 witnesses
On November 29, 1989, around 5:24 p.m., approximately 250 people in 143 observations reported a triangular or delta-shaped object maneuvering over Eupen, Belgium. Police officers were illuminated by its intense beam while F-16 jets pursued it unsuccessfully.
[Dolan Vol.2 enrichment]: Dolan provides detailed account of the November 29, 1989 Eupen sighting that launched the Belgian Wave: Two on-duty police officers saw a large triangular craft descend close at low altitude with bright lights at each corner and a reddish-orange pulsating center light. Perhaps 200 feet long, nearly silent except for a faint hum. They followed it toward Gileppe Dam where it hovered over water for 45 minutes. A second triangle rose from a nearby ravine โ perfectly silent, brightly lit with a dome on top. SOBEPS collected 120 reports from November 29 alone. Sightings continued through December with a landing case at Jupille on Dec 12 (oval object with logo of crossed ellipses, landing trace with yellowed grass). An estimated 3,000 witnesses for 1989-1990.
