Background

On September 16, 2025, the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies (Câmara dos Deputados) in Brasília held a public hearing on unidentified flying objects (OVNIs), initiated by politician Chico Alencar of the PSOL party. The hearing aimed to improve implementation of Brazil's Freedom of Information Law (LAI) regarding UFO records and conduct an objective examination of the UFO phenomenon.
