The Airborne Object Identification and Management Executive Council (AOIMEXEC) was a U.S. government oversight body established on November 23, 2021, by Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks to direct the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG), successor to the UAP Task Force. Co-chaired by the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (USD(I&S)) and the Director of Operations, Joint Staff, it included DoD, Intelligence Community, and interagency members. Key activities focused on synchronizing efforts to detect, identify, attribute airborne objects in special use airspace, and mitigate threats to flight safety and national security. Notable achievements included initiating government-wide coordination on UAP before FY2022 NDAA legislation renamed AOIMSG to AARO in July 2022, with AOIMEXEC becoming AAROEXEC. It is no longer active as a distinct entity.
