Civilian Saucer Intelligence (CSI), initially Civilian Saucer Intelligence New York (CSI-NY), was a civilian UFO research group founded in New York City, USA, in 1954. Unlike amateur flying saucer clubs, it conducted rigorous investigations of UFO reports, led by core members Ted Bloecher, Isabel Davis, and Alexander Mebane, who were noted for their analytical rigor. Key activities included detailed case analyses, translating French ufologist Aimé Michel's books into English, and serving as astronomer J. Allen Hynek's primary source of UFO reports in the mid-1950s, especially non-U.S. cases post-Robertson Panel. Notable achievements encompass high-quality personnel contributions to early UFO studies and influencing key figures like Budd Hopkins. Though never formally disbanded, CSI became defunct by 1959; members like Davis and Bloecher continued research into the 1980s.
