The Fund for UFO Research (FUFOR), a civilian non-profit organization founded in 1979 in the United States (based in Mount Rainier/Alexandria, Maryland/Virginia), originated from former members of NICAP. Its key activities included funding scholarly UFO research, promoting the extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH), and seeking release of classified U.S. government documents on UFOs. Notable achievements: Provided over $700,000 in grants from 1979-2006 for investigations into MJ-12 papers and Project Blue Book; formed UFO Research Coalition with MUFON and CUFOS in 1993; directors included Bruce Maccabee (1979-1992/3), Richard H.
