Bruce S. Maccabee (May 6, 1942 – May 10, 2024) was an American optical physicist and ufologist employed for 36 years by the U.S. Navy at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division. He earned a B.S. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, M.S. and Ph.D. from American University. Active in UFO research since the late 1960s, he joined NICAP until 1980, became Maryland MUFON state director until his death, and chaired the Fund for UFO Research (FUFOR) for 13 years. Key investigations included Kenneth Arnold (1947), McMinnville photos (1950), Tehran incident (1976), JAL1628 (1986), Gulf Breeze (1987-88), Phoenix Lights (1997), and his own 1991 sighting. He authored 'UFO FBI Connection' revealing government documents via FOIA, reanalyzed Project Blue Book Report #14, and published dozens of articles.
