Naval Air Systems Command
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), founded in 1966, is a U.S. government organization under the Department of the Navy responsible for acquiring, developing, and sustaining naval aviation systems. In UAP/UFO research, NAVAIR released three unclassified videos of unidentified aerial phenomena from 2004 and 2015 in 2020, following public disclosure, while classifying additional footage citing national security and sensitive information. It handles FOIA requests related to UAP imagery, which is deemed classified. NAVAIR supports Navy pilots' updated reporting guidelines for UAP intrusions into training ranges since 2014. Notable achievements include facilitating transparency on select UAP cases amid ongoing investigations by Navy-led task forces. Currently active, it contributes to broader DoD efforts like AARO.
