Background

Following the December 2017 media disclosure, Garry Reid initiated an inquiry through the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) to determine how the UAP videos had been released. The investigation dragged on into spring 2018 but ultimately found no impropriety in Elizondo's actions β€” the videos had been properly declassified through the DoDOPSR process.

Significance

The investigation's finding of no impropriety vindicated Elizondo's declassification process and undermined Reid's retaliation narrative.
