Alfredo Moacyr Uchoa
Alfredo Moacyr Uchoa was a retired General of the Brazilian Army, former deputy director of the Brazilian Military Academy and professor of mathematics and engineering mechanics. After his military career he turned to UAP research and, from 22 July 1968 onwards, led systematic observations of anomalous aerial phenomena on a farm near Alexânia, southwest of Brasília — over ten months, with 60 to 100 visits and a team of eight professionals. He died on 5 March 1996, six weeks before his 90th birthday.
- Retired General of the Brazilian Army
- Former deputy director of the Brazilian Military Academy
- Professor of mathematics and engineering mechanics at the same academy
- From 22 July 1968 onwards systematic observations on a farm near Alexânia, close to Brasília
- 60 to 100 visits over ten months with eight professionals and nightly observation sessions
- Documented in Parapsicologia e Discos Voadores: O Caso Alexânia, naming all witnesses including military officers
- Public affirmation of UFO reality; his son, General Paulo Roberto de Miranda Uchoa, later cooperated with BAASS investigators within AAWSAP
Uchoa's significance for the UAP timeline is two-fold: on one hand a high-ranking military officer publicly affirming the reality of UFOs, on the other one of the earliest systematic field investigators in the Brazilian space with a documented methodological practice. The trans-generational link through his son to AAWSAP shows how deeply Brazilian UFO research remains embedded in military networks.
