Charles Bowen was a British ufologist and editor of Flying Saucer Review (FSR), the world's most influential UFO magazine during the 1960s, known for publishing high-quality ufological writing under his stewardship. He edited key anthologies including The Humanoids (1969), compiling global close encounter cases with occupants from contributors like Jacques Vallée, Gordon Creighton, and Coral Lorenzen, and Encounter Cases From Flying Saucer Review (1977). As FSR's content shifted toward extraordinary claims, Bowen's declining health led to Gordon Creighton's succession in 1982. His editorial role advanced serious UFO investigation, bridging early skepticism and occupant phenomena research.
