Charles Ellis "Chuck" Schumer (born November 23, 1950) is an American politician who has served as U.S. Senate Majority Leader since 2021 and as the senior Senator from New York since 1999. He became the highest-ranking political figure to actively champion UAP disclosure legislation, publicly stating that the American people deserved to know about UAP and that government secrecy had gone on too long.

In 2023, Schumer authored the UAP Disclosure Act as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2024, proposing the establishment of an independent review board with eminent domain authority over alleged recovered non-human technology held by private contractors. The legislation represented the most ambitious UAP transparency legislation ever introduced. While the House weakened some provisions during conference negotiations, the law still established important disclosure mechanisms.
