Fife Symington III

Fife Symington III served as a two-term Republican governor of Arizona from 1991 to 1997. A graduate of Harvard University, he is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War who served in the Air Force, an experienced pilot, and the great-grandson of Henry Clay Frick.

Symington personally witnessed the Phoenix Lights on March 13, 1997, observing a massive, delta-shaped craft near Squaw Peak during his tenure as governor. Initially, he staged a press conference with an alien costume to defuse public hysteria regarding the sighting.

In 2007, Symington publicly confirmed his sighting and called for an official investigation into the Phoenix Lights. Barry Goldwater served as campaign chairman for both of his gubernatorial runs.
