Apolinar A. Villa, Jr. (1916-1981), a Native American mechanic from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, claimed telepathic contact with extraterrestrials from the Coma Berenices galaxy starting in 1953. His primary role was as a UFO contactee and photographer, producing series of alleged flying saucer images from 1963, including a notable June 16, 1963, encounter with a 70-foot disc and nine beings (four men, five women), and an April 18, 1965, Bernalillo sighting of a massive saucer demonstrating weather control. These photos were examined by Project Blue Book, Ground Saucer Watch, and others, which determined they were hoaxes using small models on strings. Despite debunking, his claims appeared in UFO publications like UFO International by Gabriel Green and newspapers such as the Albuquerque Journal.
