Charles T. Cooke is a retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who served in intelligence roles at the Pentagon from 1948 to 1952 and in Tokyo from 1952 to 1955. During this period, his desk received information copies of UFO sighting reports flowing to Air Force projects including Project Sign, Project Grudge, and Project Blue Book at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Cooke closely studied these reports despite lacking official UFO responsibilities. He received commendations for his editorial work, including from Gen. Charles P. Cabell, and a Bronze Star. In a 1966 Washington Star article titled 'Flying Saucers Again: Do You Believe in Them?', Cooke publicly discussed the reality and mystery of UFOs, revealing his absorbed reading of the reports and modestly claiming partial involvement in naming Project Blue Book.
