Bill Nelson
Clarence William 'Bill' Nelson, born September 29, 1942, is an American politician and astronaut who served as a U.S. Senator from Florida (2001-2021) and flew on the Space Shuttle Columbia in 1986. As NASA Administrator since May 2021, Nelson has been a key figure in advancing UAP research. He directed NASA scientists to investigate UAP sightings reported by Navy pilots, emphasizing scientific inquiry over sensationalism. In 2023, he announced an independent study team, appointed a Director of UAP Research to analyze data using AI and collaborate with agencies like AARO, and publicly stated no evidence of extraterrestrial origins exists, though he personally believes life is likely in the vast universe. Nelson advocates transparency, urging pilots to report anomalies and committing NASA to share findings. No notable publications or congressional testimony on UAP by him are recorded.
