Secretary of Defense Announces UAP Task Force Under Jay Stratton
On August 14, 2020, the Secretary of Defense formally announced the UAP Task Force with Jay Stratton as its first director, creating a whole-of-government UAP effort.
Background
On August 14, 2020, the Secretary of Defense formally announced the UAP Task Force (UAPTF) and named Jay Stratton as its first director. Stratton had been quietly building the interagency task force behind the scenes, handpicking representatives from the FBI, NRO, NASA, FAA, and all intelligence agencies.
The UAPTF represented a whole-of-government effort with far more authorities than AATIP ever had. Its creation vindicated the dual strategy of Elizondo working from outside and Stratton pushing from within the government.
Significance
First formal whole-of-government UAP investigation since Project Blue Book, vindicating Elizondo and Stratton's dual strategy.
