Susan Gough
Susan L. Gough, known as Sue Gough, is a civilian public affairs spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), specifically with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Public Affairs (OSD PA). Her primary role involves handling media inquiries and issuing official statements on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), formerly UFOs, amid heightened government interest. Key achievements include confirming the Pentagon's Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) and the involvement of researcher Travis Taylor as its informal chief scientist in 2021. She clarified that the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) managed the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) via the AAWSAP contract, producing 38 technical reports. Gough authenticated UAP videos and photos from U.S. Navy personnel, such as pyramid-shaped objects near USS Russell in 2019 and a spherical object from USS Omaha. In 2023, she denied whistleblower David Grusch's claims of U.S. government cover-ups of extraterrestrial craft and non-human biologics, stating no verifiable evidence exists. She announced the establishment of the UAPTF in 2020. No birth/death years or publications are publicly known; her work has been pivotal in DoD's transparent UAP communications.
